I bought from Barbour in April 2024 for £52.90. I have worn it regularly since then, through two winters. This review covers the first two years.

Score: 9/10

At a glance

  • Solid construction and a design that does not date.

  • Still looks almost new after two years of regular wear.

  • Copes well with cold weather.

  • Not the lightest garment, and a little expensive for a simple design.

After 3 months (July 2024)

I was very pleased with the quality from the start. The construction feels solid and the design is classic Barbour.

My only reservation was price. It is a fairly simple garment, and you pay extra for the name and the reputation.

After 6 months (October 2024)

It still looked almost new, even with regular wear. The material feels durable. The detailing is particularly good.

After 9 months (January 2025)

Its first winter was a good test. It coped well with cold weather and regular use. It is comfortable and practical. It is not the lightest thing to wear, which you notice more in milder weather.

After 12 months (April 2025)

After a year I could see no real signs of wear. It still looked smart.

After 24 months (April 2026)

This is one of the purchases that has paid for itself over time. The design has not dated and the garment has held up very well through two years of use. The cost per wear is now low, which makes the original price easier to accept.

Verdict so far

Well made, practical and long-lasting. It costs a little more than a basic alternative, and after two years I think the extra is worth paying. I will update this review if anything changes.
