Dyson V15s Detect Submarine review

The Submarine is Dyson's wet roller head. It washes hard floors with clean water and collects the dirty water in a separate tray. It comes with the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine, which went on sale in the UK in March 2024 at £799.99. That is about £100 more than the standard V15 Detect. You cannot buy the head on its own and fit it to an older Dyson.
What is good
It cleans spills and dried marks from tiles, wood and vinyl well. It picks up small debris at the same time.
It uses clean water for the whole clean. A normal mop puts dirty water back on the floor.
The 300ml tank covers about 110 square metres, according to Dyson. That is enough for most kitchens and hallways in one fill.
You still get the full V15 vacuum with its laser head and hair tool.
What is not good
The head is heavy. The fast roller pulls it forward, so it does not feel like a normal vacuum.
Cleaning the head after use takes several steps. You empty the dirty tray, take out the roller, rinse it and leave it to dry.
It is for hard floors only. It does not clean carpets.
The price is high for one extra floor head.
Verdict
The Submarine head works and replaces a bucket and mop. It suits a home with large areas of hard floor that need cleaning often. If you only mop once a week, the cleaning routine and the price are harder to justify.
