I bought Pip Decks workshop and strategy cards in February 2024 for £149.99. Each card describes a method for planning, running a workshop or solving a problem. I use them in my work. This review covers the first two years.

Score: 8/10

At a glance

  • A useful collection of methods, well presented.

  • Makes preparing workshops much easier.

  • A few cards get most of the use.

  • Expensive for what is a set of prompts.

After 3 months (May 2024)

The decks are a very useful collection of methods. The cards are well designed and easy to use. They made preparing workshops much easier, because I could pick a method and adapt it rather than start from nothing.

At £149.99 they are not cheap. You are paying for the selection and the presentation. Some of the methods are well known.

After 6 months (August 2024)

I found myself going back to a small number of cards again and again. Some methods are more practical than others. They are very good for giving a discussion some structure.

After 9 months (November 2024)

The decks were still useful, although the novelty had worn off. By now I used the cards as a source of ideas rather than following each method step by step.

After 12 months (February 2025)

They had earned a place in my regular work kit. Some of the content was familiar to me already. Having it all organised in one place is the main benefit.

After 24 months (February 2026)

I do not use them all the time. They are most useful when I am planning a workshop or need a starting point. The value comes from having a set of practical ideas ready when I need them.

Verdict so far

A useful tool for anyone who runs workshops or meetings. Expect to use a handful of cards often and the rest now and then. I will update this review if anything changes.
