Starlink review: in use since February 2024

Image: Starlink

Starlink is satellite broadband from SpaceX. I have used it since February 2024. This is a long-term review.

Score: 9/10

First impressions

• A strong option for fast broadband where fixed-line connections are limited.

What each update covers

• 3 months: real-world speeds, latency, interruptions in bad weather and how reliable the installation is.

• 6 months: whether speeds hold up at peak times and whether the connection is dependable enough for work and streaming.

• 12 months onwards: changes to the monthly price, how the equipment lasts, network congestion and how it compares with improving fixed-line broadband.

Verdict so far

If fixed-line broadband is poor where you live, Starlink is worth serious consideration.
