Whoop MG review

Whoop MG is a fitness and health band with no screen. "MG" stands for medical grade. It has an ECG that checks heart rhythm and it gives blood pressure estimates. You cannot buy the band on its own. It comes with Whoop's top membership, Whoop Life, which cost £349 a year at its 2025 launch. The standard Whoop 5.0 band comes with the cheaper One and Peak memberships, at £169 and £229 a year at launch.
What is good
There is no screen, so there are no distractions. You can wear it day and night and forget about it.
The battery lasts 14 days or more. A battery pack lets you charge it while you wear it.
The sleep, recovery and strain scores are clear. They become more useful after a few weeks of data.
You can export an ECG report and share it with a doctor.
What is not good
£349 a year is a lot. Over three years that is more than £1,000.
If you stop paying, the band stops working.
The clasp is fiddly.
At launch Whoop said existing members would pay for the upgrade, then changed its mind after complaints. That does not build trust in a subscription business.
Verdict
Whoop MG does sleep and recovery tracking well. Most people will get the same core features from Whoop 5.0 on the Peak membership for £120 a year less. Pay for MG only if the ECG and blood pressure features matter to you.
